Hi everyone! I'm Tiffany James, also known as Nesting Mama The Doula. I'm a birthing doula located in Greensboro, NC. I'm a mother of three and a former military spouse. I love all things motherhood, even though some days aren't as joyful as others—I'm here for it all.
There are a few reasons why I became a doula, and my biggest reason is because of the military community. Being in a foreign country alone and not having my family to help scared me, until I met some wonderful ladies on base who threw me a baby shower and came to the hospital to help me through labor. Even after we were home, they still visited and helped me so much, and that meant the world to me.
My second reason, which is the most important reason, is because of the mortality rate of women of color. It breaks my heart every time I hear about a mother or baby not making it through labor. It angers me when I find out it's due to the carelessness of the medical staff. I know that I can't help everyone, but I sure will try.
My third baby girl was born here in the States, and it was a horrible experience. You can read more about that here. I thought because it was my third pregnancy I would be able to advocate for myself, but that was not the case because they didn't listen, and I regretted not getting a doula.
But here I am today with three beautiful, healthy girls, and I am a certified doula with a lot of plans in the works! Not only do I offer doula services, but I also offer nesting services (around 37 weeks), postpartum services to help get you settled after the baby is here, and Chat for any questions and concerns. You can find more information here. I also have a shop where you can get all of your mommy essentials, from baby bags to the best postpartum items that were chosen by hand. Explore the shop here.
I truly want to build a brand—a brand that helps all mothers be the best version of themselves. I want to build a community where moms can come to each other for advice and not be judged. I want to help bring awareness to the struggles of pregnancy and motherhood. With my blogs that I post a few times a week, I am trying to bring as much awareness as I can. There is so much in store to come for me and the mothers that I am helping. I hope that you would want to be a part of that community.
