As you guys know I am a mommy of three girls! my girls are actually very close in age! My girls were one and two while I was pregnant with baby girl number 3. It was a super hard time for me but we had some very special moments. I am a stay home mom and I was also working from home with my toddlers in the background it was stressful but I truly wanted to make my own money so that I could have the money to take my girls out and do fun activities. It all started to take a toll I had sciatic nerve pain and sitting all day made me stiff which made the pain worse. It was hard to move and play with my girls. I also didn't have the time to do anything with the girls because I was working. As moms, we have so much on our plates and when our babies are young they have more needs that we have to tend to. It's a wild time but it's also so special.
I say all that because I want to let you know that you are doing an amazing job and I am rooting for you. Throughout all the hard times we go through our babies are very happy and content. Even when we are spiraling and convincing ourselves that we are bad mothers our kids think the world of us. Seeing my girls fall in love with their baby sister and wanting to feed her and stare at her all day made my day worthwhile.
Before the baby came I took them out as much as I could and I put them on schedule so it wouldn't be too hectic once baby girl made her grand entrance. we played and read books every single day and I kept that same schedule once the baby girl was here as well. Once I gave birth and made it home I immediately made a plan to make sure my girls felt included. They were still small so they couldn't do too much but I let them hold the baby bottle with me or let them close her diaper after changing her diaper or zip up her clothes.
I also potty trained so I wouldn't be changing three diapers every couple of hours. One thing that worked for us was three-day potty training. three-day potty training is putting them on the potty every 15 minutes for three days. You also have to be home doing nothing else during those days. They do say to put a big shirt on them and let them go bottomless but between me and you I wasn't doing that I just gave them to big girl undies and still put them on every 15 minutes.
I put all drinks and snacks at their level. That might sound crazy to some but it made my life easier. I had sciatic nerve pain so I couldn't up and down as much so it was easier for them to get in and get everything that they needed. My girls are super chill so they always just asked and never overdid it on the snacks.
I organized their play area for easier play and clean time. I also sat with them and talked through cleaning once we were all done playing. I let them race to make it fun for them to clean. Granted they are toddlers so they aren't going to be perfect so I cleaned during bedtime.
I hope that these tips were helpful and encouraging. All children are different and we may not have the same parenting style so please do what works for your family dynamic
